Vintage French Inspired Valentine's Day Display

Hello, I hope you all had a good week!
Valentine's Day is right around the corner
and I wanted to share with you
 how I decorated with
 My "Oh! Frenchy" sheet music.
If you seen my post a few weeks ago,
 then you know that
I found this sheet music at a Flea market
 that dated  WW1 in 1918.

It is a song about a young American nurse
that goes to France and meets a French soldier.
She ends up falling in love with him
and they get married.
She brings him back to America where he meets her family
and  there they spend the rest of their life.

Je t' adore...
I framed this greeting card and
displayed this souvenir of the Eiffel Tower.

I used this gold tensile tree
and decorated it with hearts of red and pink.
I placed pink roses in red buckets and placed a heart and cupid inside them.

I framed the sheet music with this vintage frame.
I tied a heart doily to this book with twine
and added a Valentine tag to that.

Thank you for stopping by!
I hope you can come back again for some more vintage decorating!

Vintage Valentine's Day Vignette

Hello,
Today I am sharing with you
A Vintage Valentine's Day Vignette.

I used these pink vintage gloves,
this lovely jewelry and red flower pin to make this Vignette.

I can just imagine this beautiful pin
on a vintage coat with the delicate pink gloves covering a women's  hands and the vintage jewelry hanging from her neck for a romantic night out to dinner on Valentine's Day with her love!

I placed this wonderful vintage picture of this couple
into this 1950's purse
and placed  this rose handkerchief
 into this sewing machine drawer.

I hope you enjoyed my Vintage Valentine's Day Vignette!

Oh! Frenchy: Valentines Day Flea Market Find

Hello,
I am so excited today to share with you
my Vintage Flea Market find!

I have to say that this is one of my favorite finds for Valentines day!
It has been so cold here but the words to this music warms my heart!
This is during WW1 and dates 1918.
It is about a young American women who becomes a nurse and jumps at the chance to go to France!
She meets a French soldier who through his French charm she falls in love with!

Oh! Frenchy
Rosie Green was a village Queen, who enlisted as a nurse.
She waited for a chance and left for France with an Ambulance,
Rosie Green met a chap named Jean,
a soldier from Pa-ree,
When he said,
"Par-le- vous, my Pet"
She said,
"I will, but not just yet,"
When he'd speak French to her,
she'd an-swer lov-ing-ly,

Chorus:
Oh! French-y, Oh! French-y,
Although your language is so new to me,
When you say, "Oui oui, la la"
"we" means you and me,
la la Oh! Frenchy, Oh Frenchy,
You've won my love with your bravery
March on, March on,
with any girl you see
But when you la la la la la,
Oh,Frenchy
save your la la la's for me.
Oh! me.

Verse 2:
Rosie Green married Soldier Jean
when his furlough time arrived
She said,
"Go pack your grip
We'll take a trip on a big steam ship,"
Rosie Green
took her Soldier Jean down home
some where in Maine,
They say her rural Pa and Ma,
refused to do that oo la la,
But when she's alone with him
you'll hear the same refrain,
Oh! Frenchy

Pink Depression Glass Collection and Patterns

Hello, I hope this week of January has been good for you! Or should I say has this last week been good to you?
 My week has been full...
I have been busy helping my husband pack for a business trip to North Carolina.
My daughter had her Senior homecoming at her high school on Saturday.
My oldest son bowled today with some friends to raise money for a Kitchen that feeds the homeless people in our area of Missouri.
My youngest son has the flu. Poor little guy!
As I said, I have had a full week!

With Valentines coming up I thought I would share with you a collection I have started.
My Pink Depression Glass Dishes.
I have done some research and I am going to show you the patterns I own, the company, and the Year they were made.
Some of these were given to me from my mother . Some of the dishes I have stumbled upon at the market and some were passed down from generation to generation.

These teacups and saucers are called the "Madrid" pattern.
They are from the 1930's and were made from the Federal Glass Company.

These bowls are also the " Madrid" pattern.

This Candle Holder / Vase , pair of small candle holders and serving bowl are also the "Madrid" pattern.
Here I wanted to show you three different sizes of plates. A large dinner plate, a salad plate and a saucer for the teacup.

I left the pictures a little dark to show you the patterns better.
 This is the "Mayfair" pattern.
 Some call it "Open Rose"
These date 1931-1937 and were made by the Hocking Glass Company.

This pattern is called "Holiday" or also known as "Buttons and Bows".
These dishes were made by the Jeannette Glass company in  1947-1950's

These dishes are displaying the "Old Cafe" pattern which was made in the 1930's by the Hocking Glass Company.

This dividing piece is also "Old Cafe" Pattern.

Well, that concludes my Pink Depression Glass Collection. I hope you enjoyed it and I hope that you can do some research of your own to appraise and find out the history of your dish collection!
I used several online sites to find info on this topic. I found the most helpful to be www.rubylane.com.
I hope you have a great week!

January Snow

Hello Friends,
I hope you have had a good week! Mine has been filled with all kinds of situations  because of the Freezing temperatures getting down into the negatives. At one point the weather man said it felt like it was about -40 in our area.  (That is wind chill factor)Which(FYI)I learned  the skin is more effected by the speed of wind causing it to lose heat. This factor and the temperature outside is what determines the wind chill factor.

My hot water wouldn't work...
Then my toilet would not flush! The toilet finally thawed out and that caused
a pipe to bust in the wall in back of the toilet. (You should have seen me in my pajamas outside in the snow trying to turn off the main water by the street!) My husband rushed home and we ended up having to pull the toilet up and remove flooring and part of the drywall to get out all the moisture. Thankfully it was not too bad and within a few hours we had everything fixed!

It is raining now with the temps above freezing and it is going to be near 60 degrees here this weekend. This weather is crazy, that is for sure! Welcome to Missouri weather! I really am grateful that it is going to be much warmer. My kids have been out of school since before Christmas and have only been able to attend school one day since break because of the weather. I was sooo ready for them to get back to their regular schedule today! Of course, I always love having them home! Everyone needed a break from being around each other 24 hours a day!

I wanted to share a few pictures of some of my items in the lovely snow with you today.

A Vintage Winter Shelf

Welcome friends!
I hope everyone is staying warm if you are living where the cold front has moved in!  The stores were extremely packed today in my area with everyone in panic mode trying to get supplies.  We are expecting up to 6 inches of snow with the temps being in the negative at night.   Brrrr!  I don't even want to think of it!
My home is over 100 years old and has been partially remodeled but needs more insulation and can become drafty in the harsh cold winds! It does not normally get into negative temps here.
 But all is well ...
cuddling up on the couch with hot cocoa!

Today I wanted to share with you ...
my Vintage Winter Shelf.

Find unique items that can all be pulled together by color and theme!

Thank you for coming by
and seeing my vintage Winter Shelf display!
