Happy New Year 2014!

Happy New Year To you and yours!
My family usually always spends New Years Eve together eating and playing board games and then watching the ball drop!
Except for last year at this time my husband was in New York working and visited Times Square. I was so jealous!
I always have wanted to visit there.
How do you like to spend New Years?

Below I shared some more DIY projects and crafts.
I hope you enjoy them.

This is a chalkboard I made from chalkboard paint.I used an old print that I didn't care for and painted right over the top of it. I then placed it back into this vintage frame.

This is a wreath I made from my Christmas wreath. I took a wire coat hanger and wrapped gold garland around it. I then placed it inside my Christmas wreath, hanging it from the hanger on top. I drew the clock by placing a round item on  brown paper and tracing around it. After that I drew in the numbers and glued the silver garland around the outside of that. I then added a vintage broach to the middle.

The clock above was broken and I had put it away for a project such as this.
I sprayed it with chalk board paint and drew in the numbers for the clock !
I think It turned out perfect for New Years 2014!

A Vintage New Year 2014!

Welcome to my vintage New Year 2014!

I hope all of you are looking forward to the New Year... I know I am!
New beginnings and Resolutions, speaking of which... have you been thinking of what yours will be?
I have a few in mind for myself.
It is always hard analyzing yourself for improvements and then making goals to get there.
Well, it is for me anyways.
I would like for everything to just stay the same and never change.
But life is full of changes and therefore new beginnings and new goals.

I found a quote for 2014 I wanted to share:
"She turned her cant's into cans and her dreams into plans".

This is a picture of the vintage shelf I hung above my couch. I recently did this for Holidays to display more of my vintage finds. I made the vintage sheet music by hanging them from twine and stenciling the birds onto the sheets with black paint.

I made this New Year sign from brown paper by tracing a circular object from home {For example a bowl}. I then cut it out and glued these letters I purchased onto it. I then glued garland around the outside and added a vintage broach to the middle.

I placed this vintage postcard, sheet music, and lantern in this antique tin box. I am not sure if this is a cigar box or what it is exactly...Please comment below if you know what it could be.

This is a vintage postcard I found that has the calendar month January 1895 displayed on it. It is titled
"Children from Many Lands"

It says," A dreary place would be this earth
Were there no little people in it,
The song of life would lose its mirth,
Were there no children to begin it".

This is a vintage book That reads "A New Future" I thought that was suitable to display for New Years.

I have left my tree up for the past couple of New Years and I leave just my gold and white ornaments on it. I made these numbers 2014 and pinned them to the tree. On the top I place a clock I made out of brown paper with garland around it!

The New Years sign is a chalkboard I made out of a vintage mirror by taking the mirror out and spraying the back with chalkboard paint. I displayed a mercury hurricane candle holder and vintage book wrapped with twine then added a tag with 2014 written on it. This lays on a vintage mirror tray.

The midnight kisses are Hershey's Kisses I displayed in these vintage wine glasses. I seen this cute and clever idea on Pinterest.  Please see my prior blog for New Years Eve Party Ideas!

I hope you have a Great Day!

Christmas 2013 House Tour

Welcome to my Christmas 2013 House Tour!
I hope you enjoy seeing my home and please feel free to comment.
I would love to hear from all of you!

Lets begin on the porch! This is one of my favorite spots at home. I enjoy sitting here and reading a good book, drinking a cup of coffee, and at night the lights make the porch glow!
Do you have a favorite spot at your home during this season?

I made this chalkboard sign and hung it on this door in the corner of my porch. "May your days be Merry and Bright"...and may all your Christmases Be White!
It looks as if in my area that may happen this year!

This is a wreath I hung on my door this season!

Come on in, I would like to start by showing you my living room. I decorated with vintage items such as  postcards, sleigh, stockings and ornaments!

Here below are some of the ornaments on my tree this year!

I do not have a fireplace but I love the look of one.  I used this candle stand, logs and evergreen with Christmas lights to make a place to hang the stockings from

The stocking are hung... My children are teenagers now but we still hang their stockings every year.

Let us make our way into the dining room!

I love the glow of candles at a table. So warm and inviting!
I made the "Peace" banner last year out of burlap.

I used this old gardening tool box as a centerpiece. I displayed plates and vintage ornaments in it.

I used a mix of vintage and new dishes and table linens.

I painted my nativity scene white this year! I really didn't know how it was going to turn out. I'm glad I took the chance because I think it is lovely!

I enjoy looking at this little village at night. You can see in the little windows the people sitting in there tiny homes. It brings back my imagination... I would love to shrink to size and go exploring the little village!

I started a small collection of Johnson Bros. English tea cups. It is fun hunting and collecting dishes year after year!

Please Come along with me  into the kitchen. I used gingerbread men, houses, cookies and vintage cookie cutters to decorate with!

This is a shelf that I used to hold more of my gingerbread decorations! The giant gingerbread man cookie cutter in the middle is new this year. I also collected  a giant gingerbread house cookie cutter that is shown in a picture below.

Aren't these gingerbread houses adorable? My family made these every year but my children are growing up and it has been hard to keep the tradition going.
We have started new traditions now!

These little gingerbread houses are a favorite ornament of mine in my kitchen this year.
Do you have a favorite ornament this year?

Below is a peek of my vintage hot chocolate bar!

I used a picnic basket to display vintage candy dishes and cookie cutters. A scale holds an antique bowl that we keep our hot chocolate in.

That concludes my Christmas House Tour! I hope you enjoyed my home! There has been so many beautiful home tours this Christmas!  Please come back again and join me for more vintage style decorating!
 Merry Christmas!
